Palo Santo or 'Holy Wood' is a natural wood aromatic incense used for centuries by the Incas and indigenous people of the Andes as a spiritual remedy for purifying and cleansing, to get rid of evil spirits and bad luck, for synchronicities, and medicinal purposes.
To lift energy vibration in your home and maintain positive vibrations daily, light one end of the stick over a candle flame for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, blow out the flame. It smokes for a few seconds to a minute. Keep your stick on a fire-proof dish (like terracotta), and reuse again and again. Each stick usually lasts for 7 - 10 days if burned daily. *If you want to do a Space Clearing, you require a LONGER BURN; use Palo Santo Cones or Artisan Palo Santo Incense Sticks (3-4 cones/sticks per Space Clearing session, to create sufficient smoke). Or add Palo Santo Shredded to your other smudging ingredients.
Palo Santo is also known for its medicinal properties, said to be good for colds, flu, asthma, circulation. The South Americans make tea infusions with the wood. To make a tea infusion, cut off wood shavings with a knife, about a teaspoon full. Add shavings to 1 cup water in a pot, simmer on medium-low heat with a lid on for 15-20 minutes, strain and drink. Add honey to sweeten if you like. Don't waste the shavings! Dry them out in the sun and later burn as incense!
