This is a "True Sweet Basil" (ocimum basilica) known as Linalol type. This is the safest and most pleasant of the Basil oils in aromatherapy, with approximately 24% estragole (methyl chavicol). The other type of Basil i.e. Sweet Basil oil/Exotic Basil/Reunion Basil has a main constituent of 70-88% estragole which is moderately toxic and irritating to the skin and has raised concerns that it may be carcinogenic.
Basil is a clearing, restorative, and strengthening oil and excellent for the nerves and mind. It clears the head and gives the mind strength and clarity. Excellent for tired/exhausted minds, those who lack concentration and have short attention spans, and poor memory. It is an effective aid in exam nerves.
Aromatherapy/Home Use example:
To improve concentration, diffuse 2 drops Basil Linalol, 4 drops Myrtle, and 3 drops Lavender Spike in 300ml water.
Safety: Possible sensitisation in some individuals. Avoid during pregnancy. Use in small amounts and avoid prolonged use.
