The Valerian herb is reputed to have been the blue-print for valium and the aroma of Valerian oil is extremely relaxing. Valerian (valeriana officinalis) is prized for its highly sedative properties, and useful in conditions of stress, nervous tension, hysteria, insomnia. It has a very strong, heavy, musky, woody scent which you will either love or hate. Its pungent aroma can be easily lifted by blending with Lavender, citrus oils, rosemary, pine or cedar wood.
Aromatherapy/Home Use example:
To help combat chronic/severe insomnia, add 2 drops Valerian, 2 drops Cedarwood, and 2 drops Lavender in 300ml water in a diffuser, in your bedroom. Alternatively, add 3:3:4 of the same essential oils in 20ml Sweet Almond oil and massage into body in long smooth strokes.
